We’re going camping!
It’s family camp next week for First Baptist Church, and we’re headed from Sedro-Woolley across the northern half of the Cascade Loop to Winthrop, WA. We’re praying for spiritual growth and an increase in our church family’s unity, for safety on the mountain roads as everyone travels and for safety in the hiking and games/activities. Trey is sooo excited to be headed to camp! And so are we!

Random Birthday Week Happiness
- Trey and his hairy “little chicken-man” (as he calls it!)
- Thinking seriously about the hairy little chicken-man.
- Trey with some of his artwork. He wouldn’t hold it himself. Artist’s prerogative, I suppose.
- Trey’s getting big enough to eat pudding in the car without getting it on his clothes or carseat. Yeah! Chocolate on the face? Well, that’s just part of the joy of it!
- Trey drawing on the AMAZING GIFT we received today!

Sauk Mountain: Our (Mis)Adventure
Tuesdays are Steve’s day off, and we are trying to explore some local natural places together as a family. We had so much fun on our Little Mountain hike Saturday that we resolved to hike the highly recommended Sauk Mountain (say “sock” mountain) on the next available occasion, which happened to be today!
The views we saw were astounding.
They truly took our breath away.
And made our hearts race.
The trail was much more amazing than we had dreamed.
Even now, we can hardly believe it.
This was our view at the highest peak we reached:

THIS, after almost two hours of digging.
We got stuck in the snow on June 2. Yes, in the snow. On June 2.
We were so thankful to find campers a little higher up this road that loaned us their shovels. Yes, there were. two. shovels.
(Did we mention we were in the middle of NOWHERE?!)

Trey thought it was all grand fun (I think he thought all the snow was a special arrangement we’d made for his birthday), and really, before we got stuck, we saw some fabulous scenery.

Imagine how beautiful the actual climb will be, once the snow melts on the access road!

Please keep praying for us as we adjust to life in Washington. We need it!
